17. Open Government and the Green New Economy: The new economy requires more advanced semiconductors, green technology, and reliable partnerships. The Asia-Pacific region is at the heart of this evolution. OGP member countries need to buy and sell from multiple markets and to do so in a way that is consistent with values and interests. Recent shocks to supply chains, growing trade protectionism, and the urgency of climate change mean that we need to act more quickly than ever. Open government approaches are at the heart of this action. In this session, leaders will discuss emerging open government tools and policies and how they help to make supply chains more diverse and resilient. These policies include open licenses, open procurement, open lending and borrowing, supply chain transparency (including beneficial ownership), and community engagement and oversight.

Mainstreaming and Localization of Open Government

18. National-Local Collaboration for Open Government

P19

18. National-Local Collaboration for Open Government: Collaboration between national and local level governments and civil society to adopt open government reforms is a long-standing practice within the partnership. This has resulted in a rich compendium of experiences that the current OGP Strategy seeks to cultivate in light of the increasing interest in the adoption of open government principles across levels.  This session will navigate through diverse collaboration models and their potential to drive better public policies across levels of government. Experts and practitioners will offer insights into their experiences, obstacles, and visions for upcoming opportunities.

19.  Mainstreaming and Institutionalizing Open Government

P20

19. Mainstreaming and Institutionalizing Open Government: A central goal of OGP’s 2023-2028 strategy, mainstreaming and institutionalization of open government are needed to ensure that open government is central to government practices across all levels and branches of government, and that efforts to do so can be sustained, including through political transitions. This session will explore initiatives underway and future strategies towards reaching this goal.
